Summer with the Maumee Valley Herb Society

In June, our members went by chartered bus to the West Side Market in Cleveland where we found a larger variety of vegetables, pastries, meats, herbs, and many other foods than is available in our area. Many of us purchased these to bring home and enjoy. We stopped at Courso’s Nursery in Sandusky on the way home where we found a large selection of herbs, other annuals and perennials as well as other garden items. Everyone was very pleased that this stop was included in our bus trip. Many plants, etc made the trip home with us and are now growing or residing in our gardens.
In July we had our annual picnic. This year it was at TBG and we were joined there by members of the Grosse Ile Herb Society. We toured the herb garden, and were told about each of the different gardens that exist within our herb garden. After a pot luck picnic luncheon, tours of the other gardens at TBG were available for our guests. Many also went to visit the Carruth Studio in Waterville to obtain decorative items for their homes and gardens.
